Will it be better or worse since DG is coming? Will girls drop out of rush when they don't get their favorites in order to try for the colony? That could potentially open a few more spots. Or will girls take bids to house that are "below them" (excuse me, where they "don't mesh with the sisters" and "can't see themselves fitting in") in order to belong to an established chapter?

OP, you're going to have a hard time no matter what. As others have said, make sure you know EXACTLY how many credits you're transferring with and your graduation timeline. Also, keep an open mind. Even if you do get a bid, you'll probably take some really really tough cuts along the way. All the chapters at Bama are great.

With the amount of buzz about this colony, there are probably going to be enough girls who won't go through formal rush AT ALL - who will only be interested in DG from the get go, and have been waiting for it for a year or two - to fill the colony twice over, let alone girls who don't get their faves during formal. And I think most girls considering rush are pretty aware of that.
