Weird Transfer Case
Hey ya’ll,
So basically I went to an early college program at a school where you can get your AA or BA. If you get your AA (two year degree basically) they help you transfer to another school if you don't want to get your BA there. It's totally legitimate and people go to like Colombia and Stanford and UCs and stuff like that. I am transferring to Bama for the fall and I've heard SEC schools have super competitive recruitment. I was just wondering, since I am only 18, but technically a junior who will be leaving Bama in anywhere from 2-4 years (most likely 2), would sorority's most likely view me as a junior or a freshman. I've read a lot of posts about people have a harder time with recruitment because they are a Sophomore/Junior so I was just wondering if I would be in a similar situation or not. |

On a side note, did you graduate high school at 16 and then do your 2-year associate degree, or did you do the degree along with your high school classes?

Make sure that the women who write your recs know this. Two of our daughters have done this and another is about to.

Find out how many credits are transferring there-- you may lose some in the process. Then you will know your class standing and expect to be treated accordingly.

Why is it that every transfer thinks they're somehow a "special" or "different" case than anyone else?
Yes, darlings. You're all special. Each and every last one of you. |
Make sure to emphasize the fact that you're 18. That should help you.
Good luck! |

(Also does anyone know if Bama is one of the schools that will be including an upperclassman quota next fall?) |
Will it be better or worse since DG is coming? Will girls drop out of rush when they don't get their favorites in order to try for the colony? That could potentially open a few more spots. Or will girls take bids to house that are "below them" (excuse me, where they "don't mesh with the sisters" and "can't see themselves fitting in") in order to belong to an established chapter?
OP, you're going to have a hard time no matter what. As others have said, make sure you know EXACTLY how many credits you're transferring with and your graduation timeline. Also, keep an open mind. Even if you do get a bid, you'll probably take some really really tough cuts along the way. All the chapters at Bama are great. |
