That GPA isn't good for anything.
Oh, and it's "you're". (Just yanking your chain a bit, AOII Angel )

Good pick up! I'm on my phone, so typing is a chore.

Yes. I was trying to be nice without telling her I thought she was completely screwed. The truth is that a 2.3 (by the time you hit 5th year senior status) is not attractive to graduate schools, some employers, and probably the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha. It also means you are just on the cusp of having almost below a 2.0 if you have ONE slip-up...which, at some schools (my school included) means you are OUT of there.

My serious reply:
GRADUATE!
I understand wanting to join and become part of a sisterhood especially if you come from a long line. However, if you haven't applied yourself so far, probably adding another commitment isn't going to help. I undertand that you are doing better with grades, but if it has taken you this long to get a 2.3, you might want to continue concentrating on achieving higher grades... just saying... Also, graduating takes time and energy, how much time would you really be able to give to AKA?

Ummm all you people saying that she has a 2.3 you do realize it is based on school so you really don't KNOW what her GPA is.
C+ grade average is very broad, no matter how many Princeton conversion charts say to the contrary.

More importantly
http://www.aka1908.com/membership/pr...uateMembership
NPHC aspirants who don't know to search for this info without coming to GC are probably not yet keen enough for membership. And GCers going on and on about a C+ GPA without knowing AKA's GPA requirements need to have a seat. This is a question about AKA membership and not about the sciences or graduation.

Thanks for your reply. I have searched for this information. And I have been to the official site many times, but the site doesn't answer my question. Honestly I wanted peoples helpful opinions, or experiences and not a rude or stupid comment they too immature to keep to themselves. So thanks for that.
Just because I'll be going into my 5th year in school doesn't mean I don't have anything to contribute to the sorority. I just wanted to know if like me, people understand that. AKA, Inc. is a sorority all about service. Some women pledge for the letters and the colors and you never see them again. Some might be geniuses with 4.0 gpa's but as soon as they cross you never see them again. I realize that and have seen it time and time again, which is why I'm asking how much grades play in.

As I suspected, you're an idiot. Not because of your C+ but because you don't know when to log off and pursue the resources that you have available to you.

You say that you come from a "long line of women who are AKAs"...
If this is true, then how come you're not asking them your questions? I would imagine they'd be able to offer you the helpful opinions and experiences you seek. Their insight would be much more valuable than that of strangers on an online message board, no?

I've asked them as well, and they were helpful. But why get the opinions of family members when I could get the opinions from many more people all over the globe? Every person's experience is different. It makes more sense to ask as many people as possible. My family's insight is very valuable, and more valuable than some of those who've replied on this site thus far. The whole point of a message board is to talk to other people, whether it's to get information or have friendly conversation. I chose this avenue because I knew I could reach a lot of people who were familiar with Greek life, and that I'd get a quick response.
