A UCLA friend (I have one!
) said that during finals week there were students on
purpose being loud and obnoxious in the library as backlash to all this. Her personal info was found on the UCLA directory and sent all over the internet, she was being sent death threats, etc. and that's why she left UCLA.
I don't wish that kind of terrible social situation on anyone, but she did bring it upon herself. I doubt she apologized because she suddenly sees Asian students as equals or deserving to go to UCLA, she apologized because she was getting so much heat.
This has brought up some discussion on the other side of LA. I don't feel like there's a lot of racial tension at USC quite as much but maybe because I'm white I don't see it. I hope that things are quieting over at UCLA now too.
