Take AOII Angel's suggestion. Why are you posting this to nonmembers? Actually, why do you need to come to GC to discuss this? Do you not know members of your GLO in real life?
we've never had one, and i was simply asking if anyone knew ANYTHING about them or has held one before and had some advice.

im not asking for people to spill secret rituals or anything i just want some suggestions with planning it.

thanks for your suggestions everyone!

"ceremony"
"Founders Day"
"ceremony for alumnae"
"ceremony for alumnae on Founders Day"

Those mean different things across GLOs. Talk to your sorority sisters.

I agree. Not to mention, having a "reaffiliation" or "rededication" ceremony may be seen as condescending or rude. If a collegiate suggested to me as an AOII alum that I needed to rededicate myself to AOII, I'd remind her that I'd probably been an AOII longer than she'd been alive. I would definitely run this by DPhiE alumnae before planning such an event.

I'm hoping that you mean this in an "each organization has their own special rituals, so don't assume that they all have the same ones" kind of way, rather than "rededication ceremonies are a dumb idea." I didn't want to jump down your throat over a possible misunderstanding on my part.

Can you clarify what you meant here?

That's what I mean...ask your alumnae if this is done. If not, it may come off as a bunch of collegians slapping the alumnae on the wrist for not being active enough.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I think collegians can come up with an idea and not flesh out what their goals are. If they want to encourage alumnae to be more active with the chapter, it's a fine line to draw them in without shaming them. It would be nice to have a program that is already set up for this, but if they don't have one, I think it's very important for them to work with an alum to do this so that it is perceived the way they mean for it to be perceived.
