In fact the Unknown Step Team was one of the groups I had in mind when I sent my reply. The Ques also used to have a team that went around steppin in shows. On the Christian front, Alpha Nu Omega has a real tight team that travels all over. I used to captain a Christian step team that traveled as well. I think with us, we only had 5-6 steppers, no props (chairs, canes, etc), single young fellas with no families, so yes, relatively short notice did not bother us if our schedule was clear. If show wasn’t within 3 hour drive, we would just pass on it.
I appreciate your feedback though, I do agree that a step show planners first option should be to contact groups months in advance, especially if a competition.
