Ditto what Gusteau said. If my dorm is really the 6th worst then every other schools' dorms must be SUPER nice. Forbes wasn't great, but it was by no means THAT BAD, lol
I liked the comment for one of the other U of I dorms. "It's too loud and E-14 is far". 1) the Six Pack dorms are the fun dorms, if you wanted quiet, you shoulda picked ISR. 2) Quit whining about E-14 (parking lot) being far. You're a freshman, you shouldn't have a car!!!

I haven't been to JMU, and I'm trying really really hard to not make disparaging comments about that overrated dump...oops.

I actually liked the dorm, just didn't like the hike up the stairs to the Armstrong (the computer lab we were allowed to use)...I think that was the name of the building.

Agreed, nice housing was one of the reasons Mason stood out among other schools I was looking at. Air conditioning for freshman was not a given at every school I visited.

That reminded me that the person complaining about the Park said it was too far from campus. But... it's on campus? Yes it is on the outside of Patriot Circle, but the rest of "campus" i.e. dining, academic buildings are just across the street. Map

LOL People are dumb.
The best part about the E-14 comment is that those dorms are the CLOSEST campus buildings to that parking lot, aside from the Assembly Hall & Memorial Stadium.

It will be a sad day when the 6-pack is no more. It's close to IMPE and the stadium and was the fun place on campus. A lot closer to classes than PAR or FAR. Fun times.

And the cafeteria was open until 3am!!!
Also, it's pretty funny that Forbes, Weston, and Garner all made the list, because, well, THEY ARE ALL THE SAME DORM. I know they are technically different buildings, but the 6-pack is the 6-pack.

Back in the day at my school, we had dorm rush. You arrived on campus, got a temporary room somewhere in the dorms, and then went through fraternity, sorority, independent living group, and/or dorm rush. (ILGs are coed fraternities, aside from one which is all female.) Men who pledged fraternities moved into the house the second they signed... same with anyone who pledged an ILG. Women stayed in the dorms as only one sorority had a house when I rushed. So everyone went through dorm rush - women as a necessity, men as a choice (if they didn't want to go greek) or as a backup (if they did). And then the dorms had floor/entry rush on top of all that.
I ended up on a decent floor in a good dorm. We had suites with bathrooms and kitchens (very important as the cafeterias sucked - we're talking food poisoning here). We had our assholes, but what living group doesn't?
My dorm actually ranked pretty decently on the web site in question, aside from parking - although parking is almost irrelevant as you can take the T anywhere you'd want to go.

Yes it will be. I'm not sure when they're supposed to come down, but I'm hoping they're still there by the time my brother moves in (he'll be a freshmen next year!) I want to stop in just one more time.

Was it still called Chomps? The bars used to close at 1, so you still had time to get back and get food.
