So glad to hear I'm not the only snapper!
I did this all throughout college and continue to do it today. I doodle whenever I have to take notes or make to- do lists...and I'm still finding myself doodling kites from time to time.

I think the snapping is so funny. I didn't see this until I started advising. My chapter had us yell "Ditto" if we agreed with anything so we wouldn't get up and repeat the same thing. Any chapter meeting was peppered with enthusiastic "Dittos" all night which sometimes made for a loud group. I think it was a tradition left over from the early years since we certainly weren't still using Ditto paper. We NEVER snapped!

I'm wondering, did snapping start with Legally Blonde or was it before that?

That definitely came out when I was in Med school, but SWTX was before Legally Blonde, right? I figure Legally blonde had to have gotten it from somewhere.

I'm going to have to agree with KSUViolet on the fact that when someone tells me they went to such-and-such school, my first thought (and sometimes response is), "Oh, my sorority has / had a chapter there."
You also know you're in a sorority when someone (guy or girl) mentions they are applying to an SEC school or a school like Indiana and your first thought-aside from telling them what a good choice in schools they've made is, "Wow, that's a really tough recruitment." After that thought, if you're talking to a young woman, you instinctively tell her, "You're going to need recs if you go through recruitment there," as you determine whether or not you would write her one.
You also know you're in a sorority when someone (particularly a speaker) mentions they were Greek or that they attended a university where you have a chapter and now you're wondering, "I wonder if that person is a sister."
That happened the other night at a Junior League meeting. The President is the most bubbly Alpha Phi (from the Alpha chapter) and she and I are both all about our GLOs. When a member got up and mentioned she was Greek, our ears perked up. Our President, once she stepped back up to the podium said, "For those of us sorority girls in the audience (then she looked at me and winked) we'd love to know which sorority you are from." She answered Delta Gamma. Even though it wasn't MY sorority-I was still pretty excited!

It has to be chapter by chapter/org by org because we never snapped but GPhiB on my campus did. DG might have too but I don't recall.

We also don't snap, we clap in our chapter. Our provience director came down last week and started snapping, we all laughed and then contimued our clap.
The KDs on my campus ditto. It's a hand motion (like your pointer and middle finger move up and down), they do it at open pan and other greek events. We all call it the KD Ditto, and will occasionaly make "the ditto" the funny part in the story . But what is even funnier is when I went on fall break with a couple of KDs (it was a large group of friends and representatives from 3 fraternaties and 4 sororities; needless to say we got some weird their all in different letter looks but that a differnt story) and they started to ditto at a restaurant and had to explain what in the world they were doing to the waiter... it was hilarious.

OMG! I completely forgot about the Ditto hand sign! We did that too when we needed to be more quiet. Glad to know other people do this, too!
...you do a double take when you see an item in a store with a sorority symbol/mascot/color or anything that may look vaguely like your symbol/mascot just to be sure you don't NEED more sorority swag. I still do this 18 years later! Half the time, the black and white animal that catches my eye is just a cow.

When my first Greek cousin got into AOII my mom and I decided that the panda is the second hardest mascot to buy aside from the squirrel. It was so hard to find her panda presents.

You get good at finding them after a while. There a little more prevalent now, but after my first semester, there was a whole line of figurines, snow globes, mugs, etc. that my mom found. She stocked up for Christmas. My sister and I had so many panda items in our room that we were the AOII showroom for dorm tours. Actually, a lot of our stuff got borrowed to make other rooms look less bare.

I was the same way with squirrels because my dad started amusing himself by finding squirrels for every occasion...Christmas, birthday, etc. 4 years as an active gave me a super impressive creepy squirrel army. As soon as I went alum I started handing them out to actives for their sis daughters so I now have a much less disturbing number of them. Though I kept my most impressive ones. The "office weasel" (a "squirrel" that appears to in fact be a weasel that one of our advisers told us to throw out of our office/guest room before an LC came to visit so she wouldn't have nightmares...I kept it instead) and two my dad found that make real squirrel noises. Squirrel noises are HORRIBLE.
At least pandas aren't creepy haha. They're only cute.

You know you're a sorority member when...
You explain people's personalities in terms of which house they would join. (e.g. You don't know Suzy? Well she would probably be an XYZ, with the looks of ABC thrown in the mix!)

We ditto here! I'm glad we aren't the only ones. The KD chapter is the only one on my campus to ditto, so it is always a little weird since everyone else snaps. When I was a rho gamma I started snapping so my PNMs wouldn't know what chapter I was from.

I doodle kites all the dang time!
I'll add - singing your sorority specific lyrics to popular songs. We had Theta versions to several Britney songs, Brown Eyed Girl, etc. To this day if I hear certain songs, I sing our "Theta" version.
(We also did the hand-ditto!)
