As far as what they're like and what they like: they are pretty secretive people, and like to pretend that they don't have money and are just one of us little people. I'm a little more privy than most to their inner-workings because I've handled some of their personal finance stuff. They like the Panthers (season ticket holders), and the new son/grandson (he's two, and the only son/grandson in the family), and not much else definite. They shop at Marshalls and garage sales. I don't really want to do a giftcard, because I feel like they say "hey, I had no idea what to get you, but if I did, I would spend X amount of money on it".
Dang...that's difficult because the only thing I could suggest would be something with the Panthers on it...but...considering they have a son, maybe a baby outfit with the Panthers logo on it might not be a bad idea.

That's all I can think of.

That's actually what I did last year (the baby was a preemie, so he's still like a baby, even though he's older now. Turns out that the other coworkers have decided that we've had a crappy enough year here that it only warrants a card. Fine - I didn't need the extra pressure anyway.

So, new Christmas dilemma - nut this one should be easy for someone relatively creative...husband always says he doesn't want anything for Christmas, and the thing is, he truly doesn't. So, I decided that for Christmas, I would take an extra day off work and take the whole family to the children's museum near our house. My husband and I, because of our work schedules, literally only have two days off a year together: Thanksgiving and Christmas. So rather thn anything materal, I think he would appreciate the time together more than anything. So, the dilemma is, how the heck do you (representatively) wrap that?

Make a "Day off and let's spend some time together" coupon!

And put it into a nice Christmas Card

You could buy a small photo album and for the picture in the front you could put one of the family (from whatever event, just for the original giving of the gift), and write on it "Christmas 2010: A Day at the Museum" or something like that. Then you can explain that you're all going to go to the museum.. or, if you can buy the tickets in advance, you can give him those, as well.

Then you can fill the album with all of the pictures you take!
