Sorority women - in the real world - don't necessarily dress any differently than other women in their similar region/financial status/school/etc. In any school or sorority, you'll find women wearing different styles - not everyone is a clone of the other.
In some areas of the country, jeans rule the wardrobe. In others, people dress up more for class. In still others, people wear PJs to class. There's so much variety. For ideas on women in the geographical area you are portraying, do a search for photos of college women at local schools to get an idea. Things like where you go to school, where most of your students come from, how close or far from the city you are, your particular interests, etc., will influence how you dress.
Yes, there are stereotypes at particular schools and perhaps in some sororities, but it's not just the sorority women wearing certain styles.
For example, here in the northeast, there are a several popular "styles".
- Smart, casual style: Ugg-style boots, leggings/skinny jeans, Northface sweatshirts or jackets, puffy vests, Coach purses.
- Preppy style: plaid anything, layers, cleaner cuts, clothing in wool and natural fibers, thick headbands, solid color tights, sweaters, cute but more practical boots (think hiking hybrids).
- City-style: Women living closer to the bigger cities wear more metro/cosmopolitan attire, lots of black, dark-wash jeans suited to body type, more tailored clothing, leather laptop bags/messenger bags, tall pointy boots/heels.
- Funky style: multiple layers of interesting colors, textures and patterns, different types of pieces carefully "thrown" together, black combat boots (they're back!), platformed heels, etc.
That's just a sampling of my geographical area. I'm sure if I thought about it, I'd come up with a few more.
