I'm on theknot only to keep my guest list. That feature is pretty good. I don't frequent any of the other areas but I'm a groom thankfully.

Don't get me wrong, I'm probably more involved in wedding planning than my fiance would like but its my day too.

One thing I don't get is why women seem to become a whole different beast for 1 day; an important day, but one day.

*gasp*

You mean the woman isn't just throwing an event for herself in which you just show up and say "I do?"

I've been involved in quite a few weddings and more often than not, the wedding is refered to by the bride as "MY DAY" or "MY BIG DAY" and the grooms are generally of the "just tell me what to wear and when to be there" persuasion.

Talk about their upcoming weddings.

Openly snark on other people's wedding plans.

I mean, I know WE snark, but their snark makes ours look like Sunday school.

The kicker: I popped over there when I saw this thread and saw that they have a wedding planning board for people who are NOT ENGAGED YET.

It's full of people whining about how their boyfriends won't propose and asking questions like "Is it okay for me to book the venue even though he hasn't asked me to marry him yet?"

Hilarious.

Sure, you can book the venue, but don't be surprised if you never have an event there. I can't even envision the snarktasticness over there.

And the opposite is the case for most of my friends and family. We are big gender equality people and it is OUR DAY. If the man doesn't want to do any planning then that means they both hire a planner. I firmly believe that how the engagement and wedding process goes is a window into how the marriage and family process will go. If she's (he's) a crazy bitch then she's (he's) probably just a crazy bitch whose craziness was secret before then. If he's (she's) a lazy bitch then he (she) will probably be a lazy bitch forever.
