The knot

I just want to say women on theKNot are nuts.
That is all.:p

The knot strikes me as kindof nuts in general. A friend of mine got married recently, she registered on the knot for inexpensive, DIY wedding stuff ideas, and it immediately sent her an email about how far behind in planning she was!

People sign up for The Knot so that they can get info, deals, and/or keep track of their wedding plans. A lot of people like The Knot's wedding timer because that's one of the points.

There are crazy people everywhere. LOL. The men and women I know from The Knot are perfectly sane and use it for what it's worth. Stay away from those who use The Knot as bridezilla and groomvilla central.

I also signed up for the DIY stuff and the time line. I figured since it was free, what the heck. I think I ran into the bridezillas. I laughed myself off the chat boards.

I love the Knot, but I stay far, far, far away from the chat boards. I'm a big fan of the budget tool, the address book, and all the ideas.

I don't feel like dealing with bridezillas. I have enough stress. :)

If you like the DIY stuff, have you seen http://diy.weddingbee.com/?

I feel like there should be an opt-out for the wedding timer. My friend said it stressed her out immensely to have been engaged for only a couple of weeks and to find out that she was, like, soooooooooo far behind already. The greatest was that it sent her emails throughout her engagement reminding her of things she needed to do, most of which was unnecessary and ended up stressing her out the whole way through.

Although, maybe there is an opt-out, and I just don't know about it (I've not spent a whole lot of time on the knot, to be honest).

When I was in one of my friend's weddings, I was looking for some favor ideas (she had forgotten all about favors until a month before the wedding).

I just happened to wander over to The Knot message boards.

Let me just say that people who think GC is full of "meanies" have not been to the The Knot.

The Knot boards make GC look like the land of rainbows and happy ponies.

I can't quite desribe it to you, you just have to see it. Crazy doesn't even begin to describe it.

Like, as crazy as some of those women sound, you wonder how it is that they are getting married in the first place. lol.

Glad to see the knot hasn't changed--it's still psycho bitch central. I was on it when planning my wedding. Those heffas put the B into Bridezilla
I moved to wedding channel :)

You can opt out of all Knot emails. I did, mostly because they send about 10 a day.

I agree about the boards though. Bitchtastic.

Do you have to show any sort of proof that you're engaged to get on theknot?

This could be a fun field trip. LOL.

No "proof." LOL. Just enter in the wedding date, etc. You could be completely making it all up but The Knot listserve will automatically send stuff to you.

You can divorce The Knot if you get tired of the emails. :) I guess you can pick and choose which parts of The Knot you want to divorce like keeping the other emails but losing the timer emails.

Yes...you have to send them a pic of the ring...and it better be over a carat. If it's over 3 carats, they let you into the super-secret deluxe areas. (Don't tell me you couldn't see this happening.)

KSUViolet06 10-27-2010 12:51 PM

I remember hearing from a friend that The Knot is so crazy that a woman (who had gotten into some drama with another bride on the site) once called that bride's cake vendor (people on The Knot opently share the details of their events like locations, dresses, vendors, etc.) and CANCELLED their contract.
