And that's a fine interpretation, I'm sure people who study bullying have technical definitions and all, but that's kind of how I think about it too.
And yeah I'd suspect the military setting, for some people at least, results in less harassment for kids. I can see other individuals not fitting in/having the support of parents/etc.
And sure, violence is 'an answer' but when someone sees it as their first and necessary option - "I'm not going to let them punk me." - versus "it was the last straw and I had to do
something" or even if it was a singular situation.
I'm not even exaggerating when I say it's the same attitude as my clients have. Hell we had a discussion about pride bringing you down today in group. (And they started it, I'm so proud of them.)
