A woman's pledge is also broken if the chapter of the sorority she is pledging is closed before she initiates. She is free to receive a bid to another group on campus the next day, if she and another sorority desire.
This and transferring are the exceptions to the one-year rule. EVERYWHERE. This has been stated on here multiple times.

Just to be precise on this, I most orgs will release its pledges as soon as the closing is announced. So, if a chapter is closing at the end of the year, women who have not yet initiated are free to go elsewhere. I don't know if that is official green book, or just common courtesy, though.

I thnk that's a courtesy. I've heard of several chapters (including one ADPi chapter) that was being closed, and most pledges/new members were given the option of being initiated or being released.

It's official Green Book.
Depending on why the chapter closes, or how far along they are in their pledgeship, I'm sure the group can offer them the opportunity to initiate, but that is by no means required for the group to do or required for the women to take that option.
