To my knowledge our colors have always been purple, white and gold, and our badges sable and gold. No sky blue.
What I have found through google books of all places is a short piece from our fraternity magazine dated 1883: "this badge [referring to the current badge], discontinued for a short time in favor of the so-called 'star badge,' is now once more the only accepted badge of membership." This tells me it's definitely pre-Rainbow, and if I had my pledge book on hand I could find a list of chapters that were alive pre-1883.
Also just noticed this, the clasped hands and the anchor aren't typically found on Delt things, in fact to my knowledge neither has ever been one of our symbols. This intrigues me further.
