Aerylle, I am sorry and hate to see girls end up without a house. I hope that you will find an activity you like on campus. And definitely look in to COB

I contacted my RC and she said that most sororities will meet quota and will not be doing COB..
I still have hope though.

I'm sorry things didn't work out for you.

Aerylle, you really shouldn't look at it as "I can't beleive they didn't want me." You were invited to pref, so odds are they DID want you. The bad thing is that each group can only take so many girls, and the computer tracks the scoring and makes the matches. I'm so sorry things didn't work out in your favor, but keep up on the COB possibility.

I wasn't invited to Pref actually. Tonight was Pref and I got the call this morning.

Oh poop. I'm sorry, I misunderstood. I thought Pref was last night.

Update
I have since signed up with the Greek Office for the COB list, so that's exciting. :]
So, question:
1. How exactly does COB work?
2. When should I expect a call, if one should be sent out?

Aerylle - It might be different now, but when I was involved in recruitment, COB used to be handled informally by each individual sorority chapter unless there were several sororities COB'ing and then the Panhellenic would step in and organize an 'informal" formal rush.
So each sorority looks at their roster in the spring (or some in the fall) and say, okay we need to fill x # of spots and then they'll get names from chapter members of who to invite to their COB event.
My first suggestion to you about reviving an opportunity to join a sorority as an upperclassmen is to BE ACTIVE ON CAMPUS. Find an organization and become Miss Joiner. But don't blow it off and be lacksadaisical about going to meetings, do it WELL.
Make LOTS of friends and hopefully you'll meet some of the girls in some of the houses who will COB or who can find room for upperclassmen during fall rush.
But also know that you're never locked out of a GLO.
There might be an expansion at your school and you can interview to be a colony member, or something happens and you transfer and you get an opportunity to join something at another campus. Or you can join an academic/professional GLO.
Or maybe after graduation you get an opportunity to join as an alumnae initiate.
all is not lost.

I know you're new here, but this really isn't something that is good to say to PNMs on GC. The rules/requirements/possibilities for AI vary GREATLY (to say the least) from group to group and within those groups.
Bottom line, unless you're willing to personally sponsor the PNM yourself, don't present this as an option for those who didn't get a bid to a collegiate chapter.

Thanks for everything guys/gals.
Since my post that I was released I have found a way to get involved on campus and with that, making friends is sure to ensue. I am not so down or depressed about not receiving a bid, I see it as a positive thing: It frees up time to make friends in other places and even get a job!
At the moment, I am open to COB and Spring recruitment, but I doubt I'll do formal again next year.

Glad to hear you feel okay about how things worked out! Hope you find some great friends on campus, I'm sure you will!
