				Vanderbilt Sophomore Rush

Hey guys, I'm an upcoming sophomore at Vanderbilt. Although I didn't rush last year for a number of reasons, I've decided that it's something I'd really like to do in my second year of college. I was wondering if anyone from Vandy could tell me what rushing is usually like for a guy like me and if I have a shot at getting into a nice fraternity. To give you guys a better picture of the situation, I know guys in a lot of the frats but don't have any really close friends who went Greek, so I'm basically completely new to it all.

Not from Vandy, but two bits of advice:
1.) Say "fraternity" instead of "frat". The first refers to a brotherly organization (often, if not always, with values). The latter refers to immature boys wrecking havoc on campus.

2.) Those who you know that are in fraternities are, by far, your best source for the information you're seeking. They may not be close now, but if you take the effort to reach out to them and ask them about what it's like, they'll very likely be more than happy to share their experiences.

Don't listen to him.... at Vandy you'll sound like a tool if you say "fraternity" it reminds me of that obnoxious panhel president i wanted to smack! You do have a shot at getting a bid from a good frat. Beta and Pike both gave out bids last fall, as did Kappa Sig i think. Not sure about KA AEPi ZBT Deke. I doubt SAE and SigChi did. Lambda Chi isn't awful because a lot of pretty girls go there. ATO sigma nu and Phi Delt almost definitely give fall bids, and Phi Delt has gotten really good really fast. I personally like ATO but a lot of people think they are awful. If you want a good bid i wouldnt try sigma nu. Just make sure youre at the first parties of the year and befriend all the soph-senior guys you know in the frats you want. You can definitely go places where you don;t know guys (if you can get in) but my best adfvice is to find friends from your hall/house/intramurals/class/whatever you do at school and tag along to their frat's parties because its way easier jumping into that situation with a friend to keep you company.
 GOOD LUCK!

So you're shallow, bitchy, and a moron.

Thanks for being part of the problem.

No, you are quite knowledgeable about what some women think about the fraternities. If you aren't in a fraternity, you should not be giving fraternity advice.

Not from Vandy, know alot about it (have quite a few folks that went Greek there)

Don't say frat, please. (That's just out of my own sanity.)

Be respectful, make sure you make alarge impression this fall since you have deferred rush.

Don't listen to vandycandy. She might make a good frat matress (god, my spellings bad when drunk), but she knows nothing.
