Completely pathetic. As are all of these pageants - has anyone ever seen a slender mother with anything past a high school education?
Nope.

And yeah, it's ridiculous how much money goes toward that. One mom on one ep said flat out "I'd like to fix our house, sell it, and move to something bigger, but pageants are more important."

It's funny how so many moms say "pageants are an investment in my daughter's future."

No. Just be honest and say "she does this because I'm fat and ugly and I'm living vicariously."

I happen to know a lot of pageant girls from college that were competing at the state/national level...interestingly I can't think of one that participated in that stuff as a child.

The "big girl" ones have merit...I don't get it, but a lot of my friends treated it as a hobby and had fun. The ones who "made it" really did get some college money out of it. To each his own. But at least an 18 year old has some say so in whether or not she WANTS to participate in the first place. Some of these kids might enjoy the pageant thing but I'm somehow betting they don't take it as seriously as their moms do.

ETA: I forgot that last week at some point I was catching up with a girl who participated in pageants and she told me how much she's making to coach kids in her down time. It is outrageous what these parents pay for what is essentially a hobby.
