I will most likely get flamed for this, but....

I totally agree with the bill. That is my biggest pet peeve in Arizona, well across the country when it comes to illegal immigration. I don't believe it is fair for these people (Hispanic or other) to come into this country illegally and have their baby here just so their child can become a US citizen. It's completely unfair to the LEGAL citizens of the United States.

That being said, no way in hell will it actually happen because of the Constitution. For any state to deny an illegal immigrant their child "legal" status a Constitutional amendment would have to passed and I think hell will freeze over before that happens.

I personally think Arizona is doing all this to get the federal governments attention. As a native Arizonian (who just happens to live in NC right now), the budget is crap but they have all these expectations of protecting the border and ridding (not the best word but I can't think of a better word right now) the state of illegal immigration. But they don't have the money to do it. They are being told by the federal government what to do about illegal immigration (but yet the federal government would rather bail out AIG, et al... instead of giving money to the states to combat illegal immigration), the representatives are proposing bills (that require money), the people are voicing their opinions/outrage.

I think the state just wants people (i.e. federal government) to pay attention and do something and take control. The reality is, border protection should be done by the federal government not by the individual states. Right now it is Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California who are fighting this battle and no one is supporting them.

Now this is just my opinion, please be respectful of my opinion. Until you've lived in a state that is constantly dealing with illegal immigration and illegal immigrants, it might be hard for you to understand where I'm coming from. And that is just how I feel.
