Post Greek Life Positive Image Campaign--REASONS WHY

Please use this thread to post REASONS WHY you think NPC/NIC needs to support an ad campaign that shows the positive sides of Greek Life. If you post, please be sure to note your organization and chapter.

(For further clarification, please see the thread titled, "Greek Life Positive Image Campaign--INTRO.")

Thank you!

Of course WE as each chapter and International need to promomote the good side of Greeks! We as an overall Organzatione do more for the Schools and Charitys Than Any Other Group of people do. Each Year, I give to my International Food Drive as cannot always participe in the other Charity events!
If not for us, there would be less food and less dollars to Charitys than the majority of people will give!

Let us as Greeks STOP GIVING and damn will there be a Hue and Cry of how much is really needed!
Yes, we do not get our dues for what we due and that is sad!
there in most instances be No Homecoming as No floats or House Decorations to Promote! Hell a bunch of bands and Horses crapping on the streets!
The money and hours we spend on these floats, time and other things is a lot! But of course NOT COUNTED.
It is a total shame! I know I for one make sure that the World Knows what the Greeks Do!!

The NIC/NPC/NPHC need to support positive campaign ads because over the years, there has just been way to many negative attacks on the system. This deters not only a lot high college students from joining the system, but it hurts the ones already in it and it prevents potiental sponsors from helping us to help out our charities. Yes, there have been incidences where fraternities and sororities do negative things. But the good by far out weighs the bad and the media needs to show this. They need to know that being Greek is more than just parties and whatever. Being Greek is also about helping others in need and life long friendships.

Cool

I believe Greek LIfe needs to take a stand against all of the negative publicity and stereotypes of Greeks. I have never met a better group of people, more willing to go out of their way to help others. I have also created some of the best friendships through the Greek system. Everyone looks at the negative side to the Greek system. How about how it helped many of the girls in our sorority get through school, and make connections for later in life.
Go Greek!

Here Here, but do not forget the IFC members! As most of you know, I get very HOT about the BAD PRESS We get!
I too am damb tired to hear about the Bad that some Morons have done to hurt all of us!
It would help that while there is competition among lHouses on Campus that some of the dumb asses would see it is better to put a strong front at each local campus about what we do instead of fighting among each other. Now, My question is how do we do it?

It seems to me that the NIC/NPC/NPHC have taken negative press laying down. Greeks do so much good for the communities, promote positive characteristics in their members, and create future leaders but the general public often doesn't get the chance to see that. Most people see a cable movie about hazing and apply it to every greek organization. Most people know not to generalize by race, creed, color, sexual orientation and the like, but to those same people it's ok to generalize fraternity men and sorority women. We just need a little time to teach the public about all the wonderful things involved in greek life.

I definitely support a positive ad campaign. I think a lot of people will be surprised. Compared to independents, we have higher GPAs, a better chance of actually graduating, and do a WHOLE lot more community service. I mean, when was the last time you saw a bunch of random independents get together and say, "Hey, let's raise $10,000 in the next six months for Special Olympics, and then after that, let's go pick up trash on the side of the highway."? Who else but Greeks can boast such close friendships? Who else can say they have 100 best friends? And at my school, A LOT more independents are going to the hospital for alcohol poisoning than Greeks here (as in none!). We all know that if that happened, we risk losing our charters. The independents only risk a ticket for underage drinking. As far as hazing goes, why just point fingers at the greeks? Look at girls' soccer, varsity lacrosse, etc etc etc. I saw a bunch of our girls' soccer players on the night of their "initiation." Not only were they knee-crawling drunk, but the older players were making them do these horribly embarrassing things! My chapter would never do that to our new sisters! We're proud of them; we don't want to humiliate them! I think people should know that all those things that Greeks are supposedly known for (binge drinking, hazing) are going on with the independents a lot more.
