One thing I don't understand is how is a piercing "part of who you are" on this big psychological level? It's a hole you chose to put in your body. Why does it mean so much to you? (This is directed to anyone, no one in particular) Why is a hole in your body part of your identity?
I work in a law firm and the dress code specifically says that there can be no visible tattoos and the only visible piercings allowed are ear. And almost everywhere I have worked, even in retail, had these rules.
