Keep in mind too that the process is obviously a little different at every school. Contact your school's Greek Life office - they should be pretty helpful!

Also: the process is never referred to as 'rushing'. It's recruitment. Always recruitment.

Correcting the rushee/PNM in such a manner is far more offensive than her using the term "rush."

Also, schools with all-local Greek systems (which the OP may be at - she didn't specify) do not usually use the term "recruitment." Nor do fraternities.

Aw, she's just a newbie drinkin' the kool-aid. They'll pull that stick out of her ass at initiation.

Seriously, though - I wonder how many of these girls entering college have never heard "rush" used on a consistent basis because it's been "recruitment" as long as they've been old enough to know what Greek life is. "Recruitment" (as opposed to Rush) is from around the year 2000, right? Which would have made the girls rushing now 8 years old when the switch was made.

Ok, who else now feels old?

Only formally. People use the term rush all of the time, this isn't something to be correcting posters about

Yep. And I wouldn't count on "recruitment" always being used formally. On a nearby college campus this past year, I saw lots of signs (official ones) for things having to do with NPC sororities' "rush."

"Rush" sounds so much more fun than "recruitment." I'm just sayin'.

Not to mention tradition dies hard in the Greek world.

I got to college in '02 and we still called it rush up until when I graduated (of course, all our paperwork said recruitment and as recruitment counselors we had to be sure we were always saying recruitment).
