So you're not rushing? YAAAAY

Seriously, you talk and act like a 10 year old. You need to grow up. Maybe your attitude served you well in your HS class of 44 where all the other girls look like manatees, but college is a different matter. Did you ever have someone transfer into your HS who bragged about how they were popular at their last school and no one could stand them? Because that's pretty much what you're doing.

Alas, "irregardless" is now an official word in the language. Check out a recent Webster's unabridged. I guess when people misuse or just outright make up words, eventually some become part of the language. Sigh.

As for Rebelcheergirl, there are no words.

So sad. What's even sadder is that there are those *special* people who will insist on using "irregardless" because "It's in the dictionary! I checked!" and won't understand why educated people will look unfavorably upon them.

...OK, sorry for getting off track; back to the topic at hand!

A dictionary entry simply means a word is in usage - NOT that it is correct usage, as I point out to every student who tries to tell me "ain't" is in the dictionary. It is a shibboleth - thankfully, it helps weed out the uneducated.

Way off the topic, but maybe a redeeming comment?

from Dictionary.com (bolding mine)

"Usage Note: Irregardless is a word that many mistakenly believe to be correct usage in formal style, when in fact it is used chiefly in nonstandard speech or casual writing. Coined in the United States in the early 20th century, it has met with a blizzard of condemnation for being an improper yoking of irrespective and regardless and for the logical absurdity of combining the negative ir- prefix and -less suffix in a single term. Although one might reasonably argue that it is no different from words with redundant affixes like debone and unravel, it has been considered a blunder for decades and will probably continue to be so."

Makes me cringe when people use "irregardless". The entire entry is very enlightening.

"Irregarless" on the poster's stupidity on so many issues, I will comment on how KSUViolet guessed (correctly) that you're are a cheerleader: Your signature. Please understand that the ladies on this board (be they 15 or 95) READ what they have written and what is written. They THINK about what they are saying and what is being said. And they edit (and this comment was heavily edited) what they say, most of the time, to be the ladies that (I am adding myself to this comment) we are in life.

And, if you are not a troll: (sorry, I'm about to be unlady-like) your school and environment produced a intellectually challenged 3.8 (weighted I'm sure) young woman, who lacks the intelligence, common sense, the ability to write a cohesive sentence with the sense of entitlement to use abuse and use people to gain their objectives be it for a boyfriend, sorority or friend.

GO TEAM!!!!!!

(To all others: I am sorry.)

I think Rebelcheergirl not only needs to finish her English Homework, she needs to understand her English Homework.

first of all the quarterback comment was a joke..........which is why i put the after it. and i will be rushing even if some of u dont want me to. going through rush is my right........after all its a free country!!!!!

im glad irregardless is in the dictionary so people can stop giving me crap about it. i AM educated and i work hard for my grades. you can make fun of my school all you want, but i got a 28 on the ACT so im no dummy. i just dont care to edit and reedit a posting on some lame chat site so people i dont know wont judge me. sorry but i dont care what you all think.

unlike some people im openminded enough to give people the beenfit of the doubt. if a girl transferred to my school and kpet talking about how she was popular id still be nice to her and try to find out why shes like that. maybe shes just insecure, or maybe she doesnt know any better. i certainly wouldnt make fun of her and insult her before i even got to know her!!!!!!

i read the recruitment stories and i watch greek so i kno as much as i can about what rush is like without ever going through it yet. i did my research no worries. i know whats expected of me and i WILL deliver.

ok this must be my Northeastern snootiness showing, but why do the "omgeezy im sooooo smart i got XX on the ACTs" posters always quote ACT scores? i know we've discussed this on GC before, but clearly all these wannabe, entitled hot messes are coming from the same part of the country.

now had you said "i got a 2300 on the SATs"... well i'd still give you side-eye, but at least for many of us, it would legitimatize your so-called smarts.

and you watch greek... umm, good for you?

Geez- there must be something in the water here! Maybe it's the cold? Maybe Midwestern kindness has become entitlement?

I feel so bad for all the people who are going to have to deal with this little freshnan next year.

And I got a 32 on my ACT. And a 2200 on my SAT... So there. Nanny. Nanny. Boo. Boo.
