My favorite are the people who pronounce it as one long "e" sound.

I do remember before I went Greek wondering why girls were walking around with EAT across their chests though, haha.

I really cringe at the misuse of Greek letters!!

I did not know that! I had to look this up and was shocked that the primary pronunciation is Ahhh (but a second allows for Ohhhh).

Isn't this just a regional accent thing? My husbands cousin is an AOPi, and she says "OHmicron" not "AHmicron."

I love that Aplha Xi shirt... that's adorable!

The only thing I've seen like this for Theta before is "Kites Above Our (heart symbol)"

Welcome, Sister! Hope to see more of you around here - most of us don't bite. There's a few "sticky" posts at the top, if you'd like to sign in. You might find someone from your own chapter!

Our Pledge Books (as opposed to our New Member Manuals) have two pronounciations for most of the Greek Alphabet. I guess when you go through 3-4 months of pledging, and not 6-8 weeks of being an Alpha, you have a LOT more to memorize!

When I was a Rho Chi, my PX partner was so frustrated and kept saying, "That's S-D-T, ladies, not STDs!!!"
