Some schools changed schedules this way so women wouldn't drop out of school if they didn't get the results they wanted then enroll in a school with "desirable" sororities with a less competitive recruitment. The goal of course being transferring to the original school after initiation and affiliating with a "desirable" group that originally rejected them.
