Yeah, we talked about this at meeting the other day...

Any particular reason as to why?

It may have had something to do with the fact that he was a "proxy" candidate with no real base of support.

Bro. Holmes issues a statement sometime back that he had not dropped out of the race for Grand Basileus. He said that was the result of a "dirty tricks" campaign against him. This is reality when it comes to Fraternity politics. As one who was in a chapter where one of our members ran for Grand Basileus (and lost), they play for keeps.

At the Candidate's Forum at the recent Seventh District Conference in Atlanta, it is reported that Grand Basileus candidate Bro. Andrew Ray received a standing ovation for his presentation and responses. That's quite a feat! He is the "Change" candidate in this year's election.

The Seventh District (Georgia, Florida, Alabama and Mississippi) is the largest district in Omega in terms of voting strength. Bro. Ray, made in Beta Sigma Chapter,Southen University-Baton Rouge, is from the Second District (New York, New Jersey,Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware).

A couple of years ago, he led the Rededication Ceremony at the Founder's Day Program of the New York City Metro Chapters in Brooklyn. Before he led us in the renewal of our initiation vows, he recited much of the dialogue portion of the initiation ritual from memory, while commenting on the significance of Omega for our lives. He did it with a great depth of passion and love for Omega Dear. It was heartfelt and sincere, and it was extremely moving!
