Me, I'm all for either sheer colors (pinkish, nude) or more dramatic, dark colors (plum or burgundy). Never in between!
Some faves include:
Essie's Delicacy (I love this...the perfect natural ivory-pink color)
Urban Decay's Flourescent (again, a very sheer ivory color)
Sephora's #246 (like UD's Flourescent, but more natural)
Maybelline's Express Finish in Purple Rage (a beautiful dark purple...excellent for the toes)
Elizabeth Arden's Metallic Plum
...and some Revlon Street Wear Nail Polish in a name I can't remember...it was this amazing, beautiful nude that makes one's nails look professional and neat!
Also, my friend had on her toenails this beautiful dk. red nail polish from Bath and Body Works. Can't remember the name tho.
