Remember, though, that Lennon didn't know that Jacob was dead; none of the temple dwellers did. When Hurley and the rest of them first arrived, Hurley simply said that Jacob had sent them there. It wasn't until after Sayid died that Lennon and the leader guy pulled Hurley aside to talk to him, and he nonchalantly said that Jacob was dead. They looked scared, and then everyone started freaking out and barricading everything. Lennon said they were trying to keep "Him" out, although I'm not sure if they were referring to Jacob or to the smoke monster... or... something/someone else.
I'm still waiting for there to be some significance to the airline losing the coffin. I know that on the second flight to get back to the island, Jack put Locke's body in the coffin to "take the place of" his dad, so maybe that has something to do with it.
I'm also wondering if that's somehow significant to there essentially being three John Lockes (the one on the plane, the one dead on the beach, and the smoke monster)...
And I'm still wondering what Locke/smoke monster meant when he said, "I want to go home."
