I don't want to show my nerd too much, but I do a little bit of pen/paper/dice gaming. Recently our group ran a game loosely based on Alice in Wonderland. I read the story as a child but I would love to pick it up again and read both Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.

Right now, I'm reading Raise the Titanic by Clive Cussler. In the book, which is part of a series, there is a rare mineral needed to complete the US's super secret ultimate weapon hidden in the Titanic, 2 miles under the Atlantic. The Russians are catching on to the US's plans and I'm sure there's all kinds of crazy plot twists. I'm only half way through.

The copy I'm reading was loaned to me by s/o. I don't quite understand his fascination with old books; this copy was printed in 1980 but the first printing was almost 5 years prior.

My dad loves the Clive Cussler books, he's read all of them. When Sahara came out he was so excited, although i'm not sure if it lived up to his expectations.

ETA: Alice has a lot more "sophisticated" language than I remember it to have....but I guess that will happen when you haven't read it in like 12 or so years lol. I should have splurged on the new Alice in Wonderland book I saw at B&N cause at least it has better pictures. Maybe I can find it for cheap on Amazon (i <3 that place if you can't tell) lol

I really his writing style. I'm definitely going to read the rest of this series, which says a lot b/c I'm in the middle of 4 different books....

I had a gorgeous leather bound Alice in Wonderland book with beautiful pictures. I don't know where it is and that makes me sad. This will sound juvenile, but when you mentioned the better pictures I was instantly sold. It's such a fantastic world, I could spend the better part of a day looking through pictures and drawings from the book.

Other books I am reading include book 7 or 8 in the Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny and I, Strahd by P.N. Elrod from the Ravenloft world setting.

I had a book also, and can't find it. I know i'd NEVER give it away, but yet it's not in my bookshelves.

Yeah this book doesn't have the same pictures as the "Classics" (B&N classic, Penguin classic, etc) books have. I personally like it, but there was a review that didn't particularly like it. It's different than the old traditional Alice pictures, but I really liked it. But it was $17, and I couldn't justify it to myself (especially when the other book I got was MUCH cheaper) lol
