I experienced this when my company decided to have vendors "sponsor" part of our sales and educational conference. I would say that a lot of our trip was compromised, due to the sponsors asserting their own agendas and (to a large extent), we were powerless to say no, as they were the ones writing the cheque.

Very true! Hadn't thought of this, thanks! This sounds like a pretty difficult process, anyone have any more suggestions? Really lost as to what to do.
