I feel like people on GC will say that it looks desperate (I agree) and that informal recruitment should be a time where your chapter shines as individual recruiters of people you already have some sort of connection to, no matter how vague.
I don't know what the correct answer is, but I know that I ignore facebook ads by and large (I tune them out?) so I can't imagine that it would work even if it didn't look desperate.
