I like the show.
DUH @ the fact that they, and most of these kids, are still having unprotected sex. They are doing what most teens and adults people are doing, being reactive and not proactive.
The likelihood of having a 2nd child out of wedlock is high for unwed parents. Part of it has to do with the idea that having a baby is less of a lesson learned and more of a "welp, I've done it before" that reduces the fear of being pregnant and having children out of wedlock.

Does it have alot to do with whether someone's parent was an unwed mom? I know I've heard that girls whose moms were single are more likely to continue having babies out of wedlock because they think "my mom raised my siblings and I without being married, and she is doing fine so I can too."

I would imagine socioeconomic status would come into play, too.
I like the show, though. The only 16 and pregnant episode I saw was the one where the girl and guy gave up their child. It's interesting to see how their families are still treating them after that. It's fairly obvious that they love her, though.

True. Also, if you live in an area where no one you know with kids is married, it won't be that big of a deal to you if you do the same.

It has a lot to do with a number of things.
As for socioeconomic status, mothers who were young mothers and/or single mothers, and living in areas where out of wedlock births is the norm, that's the "generational curse" that we talk about when we discuss generational poverty/the cycle of poverty.
