Not much in my hometown, so I'll just do Newark which I actually know better.
If you are ever in Newark, There is so much to do. There is NJPAC which has some pretty good performances. But my personal favorite is the Ironbound which has some amazing Portuguese restaurants, including at least half a dozen rodizio places.
