Water Parties?

I see that at Ole Miss "Water Parties" are part of the recruitment process...What is a Water Party?

Ice water parties are usually low-key in terms of decorations and refreshments (hence "water") and focus more on conversation.

I'm sure an Ole Miss alumna will weigh in soon.

That makes sense, thank you! That was not on my guess radar, I couldn't past thinking a water party is a swimming pool party!

I am not an Ole Miss alumna, but from what i gathered from my friends in the Greek system there, their water parties are more like an open house round. They happen several weeks before the rest of the recruitment process. In contrast to my campus where water parties are the first round of formal recruitment parties. They are the shortest, and every girl goes to every house on that day.

DDDLady is correct. It is a newer round added a couple of years ago. It is usually the last Sunday in August. It is just an open house. No frills or decorations. Just the house and the members! Then recruitment can be anywhere from 4-8 weeks into school. The latest Bid Day I can remember was the second to last weekend in October. Then this year's Bid Day was on 9/27. School usually starts the 3rd week in August.
