I was really worried about that for a minute or two. So glad I won't have to see them anymore.

How can you forget a guy named Canaan?

I'm seriously hoping the editing made that look worse than it really was. Because sheesh.

Or unless you're really setting out to conquer that fear.

Where is that slide?

Yeah, if you are afraid of heights, afraid of eating yucky stuff, etc. DON"T go on the Amazing Race!!

Hasn't she ever watched the show?

She's lucky they didn't have to bungy jump or repell off the "world's tallest building"!!

Isn't Canaan supposed to be the big Christian guy - isn't very "Do unto others...." to try to push somebody down a huge slide!!

It's at the Atlantis resort. I've been to the one in the Bahamas, but there's one in Dubai as well. It's not that scary of a slide (and like I said, I'm really afraid of heights).

I believe it's at the "Wild Wadi" Waterpark in Dubai.

My friend who lived in Saudi Arabia for a while visited Dubai with her parents and she said that it was an intense waterpark.

I guess that's the thing about Dubai -- they don't do anything half-assed.

I definitely recognized the slide as the one from the Atlantis and the lifeguard was wearing the Atlantis logo. My husband and I were trying to figure out why they would go from Dubai to the Caribbean and then remembered there's an Atlantis resort in Dubai as well. I'm 99% sure it's the Atlantis.

^^^ I have nothing to contribute to this thread except that I kept reading "nittanygirl's" posts and being disappointed that I didn't realize it wasn't you posting.

You should show up more often around these parts!

There's a 'nittanygirl' here now?? I'll have to look her up when I have more time to play. Is she sufficiently snarky or at least interesting enough to do the "nittany" forename justice?? I certainly hope so, if not, I will have to make sure to come around more to preserve the good nittany legacy!!

Sadly, she is not. I think she was a PNM. I'm not invested enough in her posts to go back and check, though lol

You are probably right then. I do know that Wild Wadi is a pretty kick ass place though. My friend told me that the rides are intense.

That is exactly what you are seeing.

On regular days, Ex-pat Western women would just wear regular one piece bathing suits (http://www.jumeirah.com/Hotels-and-R...mwear-Policy/#) , but for the local women who dress more modestly, then they would go on the Thursday night for "ladies only" when they are guaranteed that there are no men around. It's not a "Ladies Night" because they break out the Chippendales.

(FWIW: I do remember seeing on TV during the Olympics in Beijing, that there were some women athletes from Middle East countries who were a bit more covered up.) There are also parks in Dubai that have ladies days, when women go in the park and don't have to be fearful of being harassed / bothered whatever. Hey, difficult culture, different things.

I loved visiting the UAE (especially Dubai). I might not want to live there forever, but I wouldn't living there for a few years (up to 5 maybe).

Does anyone know why they stayed in Dubai for two days? Was an original destination scrubbed at the last minute?
Can't believe Mika never went. Crazy!

Like I said before - hasn't she ever watched the show?

She's deathly afraid of heights and water - why the heck did she go on the Amazing Race??? There are always challenges that involve either/or/ or both! I'd be mad if I were Caanan, but it was his choice to go on the race with her.

Have to say, she sounded like a 4 year old up there (floaties??) - majorly bugged me!! I am so glad the Globetrotters made it through, I like them. It also really bugged me when Caanan called out the Globetrotter, saying he thought he was a decent human being - uhh, it's a race, and your girlfriend is sitting at the top of the slide refusing to go down. That's not his fault. Glad she only had 2 minutes, but it makes me wonder how long she was up there before they got there and the clock started!!!

My husband said before the watch challlenge that he thought somebody might get tripped up, but I was worried when the Globetrotters got stuck. Good for them that they had the sense to borrow a calculator at the gold challenge, and that they knew how to do the calculations.

We both thought the poker players would know how to do the calculations, and it was nice working together with the guys who luckily had the calculator - seems like genius that they thought to buy that, who would have thought you'd need a calculator!!

Good episode!!!

I was pretty shocked that so many of them had difficulty figuring out how to do those calculations. However, both the watch thing with the Globetrotters and the hookah thing showed that sometimes, you have to take a breather for a minute, then look at it again so you can see it in a new way. Things like the washer missing or the striped hoses are so easy to miss, but can mess them up so badly!

I also wondered how long Mika was at the top of that slide before the clock started. It seemed like a long time.

Dubai looks fabulous! I'm glad they spent two whole shows there. Incredible. I would love to go there sometime.
