You are probably right then. I do know that Wild Wadi is a pretty kick ass place though. My friend told me that the rides are intense.

That is exactly what you are seeing.
On regular days, Ex-pat Western women would just wear regular
one piece bathing suits (
http://www.jumeirah.com/Hotels-and-R...mwear-Policy/#) , but for the local women who dress more modestly, then they would go on the Thursday night for "ladies only" when they are guaranteed that there are no men around. It's not a "Ladies Night" because they break out the Chippendales.
(FWIW: I do remember seeing on TV during the Olympics in Beijing, that there were some women athletes from Middle East countries who were a bit more covered up.) There are also parks in Dubai that have ladies days, when women go in the park and don't have to be fearful of being harassed / bothered whatever. Hey, difficult culture, different things.
I loved visiting the UAE (especially Dubai). I might not want to live there forever, but I wouldn't living there for a few years (up to 5 maybe).
