I'm with you - beer just doesn't appeal to me, and YES I have probably tried (fill in the blank).

Many of the foods that are trendy right now.. Thai, Indian, Sushi.. I just don't like any of them. And, my digestive system can't handle Thai or Indian either. Coffee also. I love the smell, I hate the taste.

I went to a beer tasting last weekend, trying to find a beer I really liked. Some of them were better than others.. I liked a few, but I still prefer many other drinks to beer, like Bailey's, wine, cranberry and vodka, strawberry margaritas/daiquiris

Most alcohol. I really dislike the taste of hard liquor, which probably isn't a bad thing. I've tried a lot, so yes I probably have tried your favorite, but I seriously gag when I take a shot or have a mixed drink. My mixed drinks have to be a splash of alcohol and 99% everything else.

Cottage cheese and cheesecake for me as well.

I'll do the reverse. I tried chitlins. I love them, most folks don't. The crazy thing is most folks never even tried them and won't eat them because they know what they are. That's too bad. Chitlins, mmmm good.

Most people will eat sausage, though, and they don't even think that the sausage is just stuffed in "chitlins"! I've never had them, but if anyone offered them to me, I'd try them. I'll try just about anything. Hell...I've eaten brains for God's sake!

I'm like you, I'll try anything. At first I wouldn't try cow tongue, but now I want to try. I never had them, but I heard pig brains are good as hell.

Tongue is good...very tender, after all, it gets a good workout! I think brains are pretty bland. My husband loves lamb brains, but he's Greek and that's their thing! I love sweetbreads, foie, chicken hearts (discovered this in Brazil at one of their Brazilian steakhouses), but most other organ meats are a little too strong for me. I'm going to Tokyo next month and want to try raw bear...my husband wants whale :O! I had reindeer in Sweden, but it was like eating beef *yawn*

LOVE Sushi! For me, though, it has a lot to do with wasabi. I love wasabi! Also, I love raw salmon. The fat in salmon actually melts at the temperature of the human mouth so that when you eat raw salmon, it melts in your mouth and floods your mouth with flavor. I also really love the different textures in good sushi. The rice, when done well, is amazing. I could eat sushi twice a week.

For me its beer and coffee. I agree with the others above, about how coffee smells great, but I hate the taste. I also don't like how beer is fermented wheat, and that's just gross to me, but yes I have tried it and I can't stand it. I'm much more in to mixed drinks...and the less alcohol I can taste the better!

I also don't really like seafood, although I've gotten better with crab meat.

Count me among those non-coffee and non-beer drinkers. There is plenty of alcohol that I do like, it is just that beer is not among them.

The other thing that I can't stand is Ranch Dressing. Don't want it on salad, don't want it with pizza/breadsticks, don't want to dip my veggies in it. Just don't want it.

You would HATE Seattle. We have a ton of thai, indian and sushi restaurants, and a coffee shop on every corner...or even several on a corner. Though if you like tea you could substitute that.

I guess I'm late to this thread's party.

I didn't realize food was trendy...maybe it's because I'm in southern California, but most of those ethnic foods I've been eating since I was a kid.

Anyhow...stuff I hate that it seems others like)food, products and other):

-The vast majority of country music esp. certain songs. I just can't deal with songs about tractors, barbeque stains on white tee-shirts, etc...

- Jagermeister. A lot of people like it, I'm not sure why. The smell reminds me of green NyQuil.

- Menudo (the soup not the group) I like a lot of Mexican foods, but really dislike this one. I think it's the tripe.

- Chocolate ice cream. I love chocolate, I like chocolate in my ice cream, on my ice cream, and even mixed with vanilla ice cream, but I don't like it all by itself. I also prefer my chocolate shakes made with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup, but that is because I am just weird like that. It was a habit I developed while working at Ben and Jerry's through college.

- Applebee's/Hometown Buffet/ Carino's/ Olive Garden/ various other large chain restaurants - sure I can go for a drink, but people I know swear by these places and I just find them pretty sub-par. I'm more about family owned small restaurants in general. I do have to give it to Olive Garden, their breadsticks with alfredo sauce are tasty. That's about all I like there though.

- Texting - I'd prefer to actually speak with someone and for me there is rarely something so important that I must say that I feel the need to type it out instead of just tell someone in a conversation at some point later. My only exception to this is when my husband sends me funny texts randomly that I've been saving on my phone for a year so far.

- Twitter - It's over-blown and makes some really lame people feel self important because they have followers.

- Skinny Jeans - I'm not a big girl by any stretch of the imagination. Heck, I'm not even the average sized American, but they make it look like I have a giant ass and huge hips. Boo on skinny jeans.

- Rachael Ray and Sandra Lee - I really despise both of these women. Their food just does not look appetizing and I don't like how either of them speak. EVOO? Yum-o? = Lame-o Sandra Lee needs to suck a bullet, she over emphasizes words and says "soooo amazing/great/good/other adjective here" and it just irritates me.

That's all that I can think of at the moment.

I can understand some foods being "trendy," so to speak - but the ones listed don't seem trendy to me.

Plus, I LOVE good Indian food. It's one of my favorite types of foods.

Agreed - you can find good family-owned places in most cities and towns that are better than the chains. That goes especially for Olive Garden; go to the local pizza joint, and you'll get better quality Italian food.
