I didn't see the VMA, and have seen only the brief clip of the incident. I hadn't really planned to comment on this because it means so little to me. However, I just had to say something when I got to this...

Ugh. This line always bothers me. If his behavior doesn't deserve an excuse, then why are you giving him one? Just because he's Kanye doesn't mean he is exempt from basic manners. Because he's done it before we're supposed to just nod him along saying, "Oh, it's just Kanye being Kanye." Please.

It'd be like giving OJ a pass if he kills someone [else] because, well, it's just OJ being OJ, and it's not like he's never done it before. (Yes, I understand that what Kanye did is in a completely different ballpark than what OJ got away with. I'm just using it as an example of why "Person X is just being Person X" is an illogical justification for anything.)

iDied @ the bolded

I don't want to come off looking like a Kanye groupie, but people are making this into more than what it should be. Kanye has interrupted awards shows before. He's spoken his mind at inopportune moments. This is not new (and not even the worst thing he's done). People are acting like they've never seen this from him before.

Plus, they're talking about how he picked on this "poor, defenseless little girl." Taylor is 19 and in the music industry. I'm sure she can fend for herself.

OJ's a douche. I know everyone is on a different topic, but back to Kanye West for a second. I don't agree with what he did, but give the guy a break. He was shit faced. How many of us have been shit faced before and acted in a way we regretted later?

Sure, alot of people have.

However, we are not on TV.

We are also not celebrities.

The whole "give him a break" thing goes out the window when dumb things are done in public and you are a person who is considered to be famous.

I'm aware of that, and I don't agree with what he did. I believe if he had issues with that chick winning the award he should have addressed it with the decision maker, not her, because it wasn't her decision. I'm just saying that the same people bitching about his actions are the same people who have acted in the same way (in public), after having too much to drink. I know, because I've done it on a few occasions myself. With this whole celeb and tv thing, a lot of the news media who are covering this and other things news related are getting to the point where they're "making" the news, not telling it. They're more like entertainers themselves to me. Rush is a good example of that.
