Hey all! I've come down with a pretty nasty cold but I feel obligated to update everyone who has been supporting me through this process, so here goes.
Cuts were brutual this round. It was not uncommon to get only 4 invites to the round of 7. I even heard of girls that got 2 invites (or none ). Many girls dropped out today.
Anyway, I recieved a less than full schedule and was disappointed to see that many of my top choices had cut me. However, I stuck it out and I am glad I did because I LOVED one of the houses I visited today (they were also one of my favorites yesterday) and had warm feelings towards the others.
I'm hoping for the best tomorrow, but at this point it's definitely out of my hands. And, in light of the heavy cuts, I am remember the frequently repeated GC wisdom: "It only takes one!"
Thanks for reading everyone!

Yikes, I did not know that! Still, it is so true - there can only be one in the end & all the others won't matter any more. So yay for the house you love! Plus, you'll most likely end up with friends in the other sororities thanks to rush, which is kind of cool. I'm sure you know this from Greek Chat and your own observation, but all our sororities support each other & get along. It's awesome!

^^^^ I really can't wait to see if they end up as pledge sisters.

i was just going to warn the girls to be aware of the flu symptoms and to go to the health center on campus is their symptoms fit that of the flu. in the mean time, lots of fluid, hot tea and chicken soup from panera will help. advice from a mom.

When I went through, I had a girl say "See you tomorrow! I mean... I hope I see you! I mean... maybe I'll see you?" It's just one of those holes you dig yourself into and there's no graceful way out of

How has your Rho Chi group been affected by H1N1? I have several friends who are current recruitment chairs and they said girls are dropping like flies. Some PNMs are even wearing masks?! Yikes!!

Hey everyone!
Sorry for the lack of updates on my part. Just so ya'll know, I had to miss House Tour/Philanthropy Day and Pref Night due to (you guessed it) Swine Flu.
Luckily for me, this has actually been a very common occurence this year, so I was still invited to TWO houses for Pref Night and was able to rank them over the phone with my Rho Chis. Even though I have to miss Bid Night tomorrow, I will (hopefully) be a new member of a sorority and will update everyone then!
Thanks for reading!

Wow, so sorry to hear you got the flu! Glad to hear that you still got some invites even though you were sick. I hope you feel better!

The chapters are being very smart about this. No point in wasting the year for an outstanding PNM because she's caught a bug that none of the sisters want to get from her, and she's been honest enought not to "brave it out" and show up contagious! Very pleased that you have invites! Good luck, I'm late coming into this thread but so excited that you're finishing strong. Just let us know what happens!

Oh my goodness! What a recruitment crisis! I am so pleased at how you are handling this and am hoping you have a good day today! Thanks for letting us know your story. Does UNC use RFM?

And, I may have entered your choices into the computer! Small world, eh?!?! I was one of the area NPC alums assisting last night. Area NPC alums and student affairs professionals as well as UNC Student Affairs staff help during the card signing by explaining the agreement when the PNMS are ready to submit their preferences or entering the data into ICS so that the Greek Life Office can deal with issues, support the Recruitment Counselors, work with RFM, etc.
Women who were unable to attend Preference due to illness and had invitations were able to submit their ranking via phone and email last night. The H1N1 situation is only getting worse so everyone is definitely happy that recruitment is finished!
Last night was a great time, and I have my fingers crossed for all of the women.

Good luck!

I agree! I'm so nervous for when I go through rush myself in case I get sick. Who knows if the sororities will be accommodating to girls with the swine flu.
