NO!!! that is not a realistic view of fraternities. Though I would have to say I never heard of recs before joining this site. The only thing that would have any weight, depending on the org, for a fraternity would be an alum from that chapter recommending somebody. Because that way we know that we would probably get along with them if somebody we get along with does.
