Frats & Sororities

I have a question for people who are members of both Alpha Phi Omega and NPH organizations. I know most other organizations do service also, so what made you join APO? For example i have a friend who did apo then aphia (wink wink) . But in cases where you pledged Greek first then pledged APO what was your reason? Was there not enough service in the other org or what? I was just curious to know. Also how do you find the time to dedicate to both of your orgs? I'm askin b/c I have a friend who is a member of both a greek pan-hell frat and apo and he finds it difficult to find time for both.

For me, I wasn't even thinking about becoming a social greek in college...i literally wasn't thinking about it because APO took up SO MUCH TIME and energy. You would pretty much have to become inactive in APO at my school in order to be active in any other org. I would IMAGINE that it's hard to devote equal time to APO and a traditional frat in undergrad, especially if you were PLEDGED right in APO.

But I too, would like to hear more....i know nupe4life has a story.

I joined APO because even though I was already a Kappa, I knew that APO would open up more service opportunities for me. In my APO chapter, we did so many diverse service projects, we never got pigeon-hold. We had our traditional projects and organizations that we worked with each semester. But each semester, brothers were always bringing in new projects and service ideas. Basically, anyway we could incoporate the 4 C's we would. Also, I liked the fact that I had the opportunity to do service projects during the week and on the weekends. There was always work to do, and always many projects waiting for you to do. We've always had excellent VP's of Service at Iota Rho. So that's why I joined.
