If you Google it there are a number of stories on this. He just passed today so the media is just catching on.

Someone has already updated his Wikipedia.

Just tried Google, Yahoo and Bing...none haven't really updated beyond the arkansas report and all I put was his name..and wikipedia?

You aren't serious.

This is what happens when you aren't Michael Jackson...reminds me of what happened with Sinbad a few years ago when his death was exaggerated...LOL

Michael Jackson's death was rumored for about an hour.

Other than a few blogs here and there, I haven't found any "real" news source. But, after MJ's death, maybe blogs are the place to go for this kind of thing?

I don't know what "real" news sources are when it comes to people who aren't considered top celebrities.

I mentioned Wikipedia because it is really silly for someone to have made that change within the past hour. It's almost like they couldn't wait to do it.

I guess I was thinking of newspapers, even trade journals or magazines, not TMZ/Gawker/Defamer/DListed/Perez Hilton. Maybe it's my "old media" bias coming out.

Out of those listed TMZ has been accurate in more than one instance. They were the first to report MJ's death and it was accurate. I don't always discount TMZ.

You see, however, "accurate in more than one instance" simply doesn't cut it for any news source that's attempting to be reputable. A good reputation doesn't come from hitting the jackpot a few times--it comes from a consistent history of reporting accurate, verifiable facts. Perhaps the folks at TMZ are just fine with their reputation as a celebrity gossip site that's occasionally credible and a lot of fun.

I may not discount TMZ as readily as I may have before June 25--but if you think it's going to be my primary source of news, you're crazy.

Unless you can point to where I said anything of the sort, I would say that YOU are the one who is crazy. I don't give a flying flip WHAT you use as your primary news source.

That always happens with Wikipedia though.

So sorry to hear this. He was a good author, and wrote quality novels. Based on what I heard, he fainted a few days ago, but never went to the doctor. Perhaps something could have been done had he gone to get himself checked out. Either way I hope people pay attention to all these deaths lately and start taking better care of themselves.

Dear Lynn,

I don't know where and how to say goodbye to you so I guess I'll say it here. I wish you'd gotten yourself checked out last week but maybe it was just your time. I will miss that grin and you always sitting on that big desk instead of in a chair. My puppy loved you.

I'm mad at you for going so young! I'm going to reveal to the whole world now that you were the guy under the Dancing Razorback costume the year before you cheered. And as for cheering, maybe Paula M. will forgive you for dropping her on her head. Or not! Maybe she'll get even with you in Heaven.

I'm upset and I'm sad but I'm remembering a lot of good times. I'll see you and the rest of the yearbook staff in Heaven someday and we'll make the best
yearbook that Heaven ever saw. Till then--

Woooooooo, PIG! Sooie!

from 'Patty Hearst' -- now I know you're laughing at me--

I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend. He accomplished a great deal in his limited time on earth.
