Again, when all else fails, you decide to label as "racist" those who disagree with your point of view.

This is starting to become a running theme.

ETA: It's a shame too, because you say some things in your posts that are intelligent, well-thought, and correct. Racism is still an issue in this country, and sometimes it's things that not everyone can see. It's not always one blatant incident - it could be a pattern of behavior, or more subtle actions.

The problem is, in your posts you're very quick to characterize people based on their disagreements with you. You don't know the posters on this board. Yet, you're making a judgment about what kind of person they are because of their disagreements with you. It makes it very difficult to debate you, because you seem to be willing to drop labels on people at a certain point in the debate.

For the record, I don't just label someone as "racist" when they disagree with my point of view. I can understand dissent. There are some people on here who disagree with me, but I don't see their comments as racist. Even those who don't think the incident was racist, but still think the cop was in the wrong are not people that i think are racist. My problem is with the comments that show a distinct refusal to consider that it just might actually bE racism. And I have issues with some because in more than one thread concerning incidents that appear to be racist, these individuals immediately discount the black person's claims. I have included a link that I find interesting. It discusses how people may be more racist than they think.

Oh and one more thing, you accuse me of being quick to drop labels on people you claim I don't know, but haven't you and some others done the same to me? Quite frankly, you can tell where someone's head is by what they write on a message board. All I'm saying is that some of the responses do indicate a certain level of prejudice or bias or racism.

The same as your refusal to consider that it just might actually NOT BE racism.

ETA: agzg, I'm also tired of it. What gets me is when posters like deepimpact preface almost every post with "you all will disagree with me" and "I knew you all would say this."

Yup...

I was flattered that she thought about me at all. If anything, she is less able to see when there is no racism because so far, she wants to see racism in every imaginable situation.

Exactly what I was going to say.

Every thread deepimpact gets involved in seems to have numerous posts in a very short period of time (usually analyzing how she responds to people), and other posters always beat me to the punch. I mean, two full pages before lunchtime... that's impressive.

But anyway, in reference to what I have made bold in the original quote... You talk about "typical" responses from people regarding situations that appear to be racist, in which posters immediately discount the black person's claims. I'm sorry, but I don't call out "racism!" like you have in your previous posts when it comes to a situation like this Gates case, which has crossed so far into the gray area of speculation, hearsay and half-truths, that no one truly knows what happened. It's kind of like that whole innocent until proven guilty thing.

And do you find yourself constantly on the side of the black people (in addition to constantly calling people on this board racist?) I think that would make you a judgmental racist, also! Welcome to the club.

You lost me here. She can be judgmental and prejudiced but her instantly siding with Blacks on such issues would not make her racist.

She implied that all people who side against blacks in situations that could possibly include racism are racists. Therefore, if she always sides with blacks, she must be racist, also.

I know this isn't the case. Just trying to make a point for deepimpact... which she probably won't understand and/or listen to anyway. I know, because I have her all figured out and already know what her response will be..........

Gates is a professor of African Studies aka Hate Whitey 101.
Ya know, madmax's presence doesn't bother me and I appreciate different styles of communication and humor.

But most of his/her posts show that he doesn't know anything. It would be different if he had knowledge at the foundation of his off-color remarks. Then I could respect him/her as a username.

I'm glad you were able to QFP this before he (or a mod) deleted it. I was in the process of quoting what he said and I wasn't able to.

Hate Whitey 101? Seriously? And we all know for sure that teachers of Women's Studies courses secretly call their class Manhaters 101.
