...not saying death is a popularity contest or anything... but hell, I'm not seeing any Charlie's Angels playbacks right now.

I cannot believe he was only 50, though. They just keep getting younger.

I honestly think that the difference in media coverage is because it's been a well-known fact that Farrah was taking a turn for the worse. Even a few days ago I remember seeing on an entertainment show that she was readmitted into the hospital and sources saying that she was not doing too well. My point is, not to sound heartless or anything, but I think that to a certain extent people were expecting Farrah to die sooner or later. Whereas, Michael Jackson dying was something that took everyone by surprise.

Also - and this may seem harsh - Farrah's career success was nowhere near Michael's. She left Charlie's Angels after just one season, and enjoyed minimal success after that. She was beautiful and a style icon of her time, but she was no King of Pop.

We also had a play-by-play of Farrah's illness and dying days. It was basically a countdown to her death from many media outlets, which really saddened me. Did anyone watch her 20/20 special tonight?

MJ was seemingly soooooo random and unexpected. I was glued to the TV and internet for 30 minutes waiting for the confirmation of his death from more than TMZ. He was the icon of our generation (those who grew up watching Jackson 5 and/or MJ in his younger solo days) and that's why many of us are responding as we are.

Yeah, that part of her post gets me.

When he was reported as being rushed to the hospital, my friend and I were wondering whether MJ attempted suicide. When he passed, I accepted the cause of death but, in the back of my mind, wonder if it was a suicide and the cause of death is just a cover-up. Anything's possible since his health issue and passing come out of nowhere as far as the public is concerned.

I'm sorry, but I find it a tad annoying that I log on to Facebook/Twitter and see stuff like:

"OMG, you guys are SUCH idiots for caring about Michael Jackson when 50 people died in Iraq today and Iranians are being politically oppressed."

I agree that those things are important and we should be concerned about them, but status updates and Tweets like those are a bit self-righteous much.

That is so cliche`-ish.

If I felt like keeping the insensitive arsehole theme going, I'd say that I probably "know" MJ more than I know those people in Iran and Iraq.

Really? Typically I believe in cover-ups, but I really think he had a heart attack. I think he has been under so much stress and strain and on so many medications that his heart gave out.

I was at the hairdresser when the word spread. Needless to say, everyone was on their Blackberries and iPhones. Most of my Twitter buddies, including some reading now, were keeping each other informed about this.

The Michael Baisden show was playing in the background; pretty early on, he devoted his entire coverage to MJ, starting with Jackson. Those songs they were playing, like "Rock with You," "Human Nature," and "PYT," brought back good memories.

Remember when it was such a BIG deal when a new MJ video came out?

Oooohhhh.....they recognize it and now is the time to make a pretty buck from his death...

Kind of related, but iTunes has an MJ icon on their homepage, and 6 of the top album downloads are from Michael Jackson. Apparently, the top 10 at Amazon is all MJ too--not sure if that's downloads or actual CDs.

What's going to happen to all of those people who had tickets to see him this summer?

My dad had James Brown tickets when he passed, and I'm pretty sure he got a refund. So I think this may be the same thing? I'm not positive though.

Yes! I remember the one that premiered after In Living Color.

His videos were productions. He was the first to really do that.

When "Black or White" premiered, I'm pretty sure we had popcorn that night and watched it, like it was a movie.
