Don't feel like you're going crazy. I can't sleep if I don't have my racoon around. I don't necessarily sleep with him at night, but if he's not in the same room, I don't sleep the whole night. I hope you find your puppy some time soon. As for the duck hostage thing.....hehehehehe.....welllllllllllllllllllllll lllll.....you know.
