Mercy was just awesome. I think it is definitely is my top faves of books.

Please come back when you are finished reading it. I have been dying to discuss the ending, but none of my friends have read it yet.

Will do!
I would double quote, but I haven't figured that out yet. It makes me when people spoil the ending of a book. I was reading a trilogy that took the two years for me to read, because I was hooked on the first book. I introduced a co-worker to the books and when I had 50 pages left of the third book, she comes in and spoils the ending. I was reading the damn book on my break, so she could see I wasn't finished! It took me another year to finish those 50 pages, because I was like-why bother?? I made a pledge to try and only tell someone about the first chapter of a book to try and hook them if at all possible-which with Jodi Picoult is easy.
On another note, if you ever get a chance to go to her book signing, she is really nice in person. She took down her publicity signs at the bookstore so more people could see her while she was doing her reading. Did you know she was a layed off teacher? She got her pink slip after one year and started writing. This wasn't even her intended career. She was also very humble about the responses she received from the audience. You could see she was overwhelmed by everyone not only sitting on chairs, but sitting on the floor and standing throughout the whole store. She brought such a crowd they host her somewhere else now.

I read the book last summer. The subject, an ill-child/sibling, touches my family.
Saw the preview. I can almost buy Cameron Diaz as the mother, but not Alec Baldwin as the lawyer. Bobby Canavale would have been a better choice.

Finished!..after a minor detour because I needed a lighter read.
I saw My Sisters Keeper opening weekend. I thought all the actors did an excellent job. They did change a few things, and I'm not really sure why, but it did make for a good movie still anyway.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you! So, once again Jodi Picoult doesn't disappoint with the ending of the book. What did you think of the book?
As for "My Sister's Keeper," I want to see the movie but hate that the ending has been changed. I think I am going to wait for the DVD. I too am sick of Hollywood having to give us happy endings.

I had to put the book down, because the beginning seemed a little slow-but I just don't think I was in the mood for it at the time. Once I picked it up again, I finished it in 2 days. (The first quarter took me over a month.) I liked it much better than her last 19 Minutes and 10th Circle. She is on a 1 book a year mode, and I think it affected the quality of her work for a little while. I really liked the ending- even though it is sad.
What were your impressions?

Not to deviate to much from My Sisters Keeper, but her newest book, Handle with Care is actually pretty good.
As for the movie, I too went to wiki and am disappointed with the change in the ending. They should have kept the book ending. Plus, it kind of sucks that they cut out the character of Julia and changed the fact that the son is a pyro.
