My Sisters Keeper- The Movie
 

I just saw the trailer and the movie looks good. I'm disappointed though because Jodi Picoult states on her official website that the ending is different than the book. Which kind of sucks, because yes, while the book ending was sad, it was the perfect ending. I hate when screenwriters completely change a book.

I love that book. There was no reason to change the ending.

i'm currently reading the book for a school assignment. it's really a great story. i love that each chapter is a different point of view from different characters throughout the book.

All her books are like that. Be careful, she's addictive.

I loved 19 Minutes. I really, really want to read her new book Handle With Care, I'm on a waiting list for it at the library.

I kind of have a feeling that (without spoiling the book futurexrushgirl) that what happens to Anna in the book doesn't happen to her in the movie. (If that makes sense).

^^^That's what I'm thinking. As much as I hated it, I can't imagine the movie ending any differently because it was all such a perfect fit. I finished that book in about 2 days, it was amazing!

She is TOTALLY addictive. I can't wait to read some more of her books, but I haven't had time to read for pleasure in months. :( I think the last one I read was Mercy.

I'm in the middle of Handle with Care right now, and it does not disappoint. I should have started it after classes end though. I think I'll try and get through Songs of the Humpback Whale this summer. I've tried that book a couple of times, but never could get into it. Those are the only books she's written I haven't read. Mercy was just awesome. I think it is definitely is my top faves of books.

I must be the only one who hated this ending. It was just like "oh well, fate will do as it wants so why bother fighting it."

oh, it's okay! haha. i'm only a hundred pages in, but my teacher told me everything that happens throughout the book. :( i was kinda dissapointed that she spoiled it. haha.

but it's definitely a good read. i told my mom that she has to read it after me!

That sucks that your teacher spoiled it for you!!!!

It's a great book to debate though. The morality of conceiving a genetically perfect child to be a donor for a sick child.

33girl- I just had a feeling reading the book, that one of the girls was going to die. I just didn't know which one until the moment came. Either way I think it sucks that they changed it for the movie.

Please come back when you are finished reading it. I have been dying to discuss the ending, but none of my friends have read it yet.

I would double quote, but I haven't figured that out yet. It makes me :mad: when people spoil the ending of a book. I was reading a trilogy that took the two years for me to read, because I was hooked on the first book. I introduced a co-worker to the books and when I had 50 pages left of the third book, she comes in and spoils the ending. I was reading the damn book on my break, so she could see I wasn't finished! It took me another year to finish those 50 pages, because I was like-why bother?? I made a pledge to try and only tell someone about the first chapter of a book to try and hook them if at all possible-which with Jodi Picoult is easy.

On another note, if you ever get a chance to go to her book signing, she is really nice in person. She took down her publicity signs at the bookstore so more people could see her while she was doing her reading. Did you know she was a layed off teacher? She got her pink slip after one year and started writing. This wasn't even her intended career. She was also very humble about the responses she received from the audience. You could see she was overwhelmed by everyone not only sitting on chairs, but sitting on the floor and standing throughout the whole store. She brought such a crowd they host her somewhere else now.

I read the book last summer. The subject, an ill-child/sibling, touches my family.

Saw the preview. I can almost buy Cameron Diaz as the mother, but not Alec Baldwin as the lawyer. Bobby Canavale would have been a better choice.

I haven't watched the preview yet, but those do seem like odd choices for the actors. Hopefully I'll be surprised. I would have never put Ann Hathaway in the Devil Loves Prada and she did a great job.

This book is the only read I've read of hers. It troubled me so much that I haven't been able to pick up another one she's written, even given her accolades. I think half is it hit way too too close to home and the other half is I hated hated the ending. It's the only book I sobbed through pretty much the whole thing.

The movie, in about 2.5 seconds had me tearing up. I'm going to have to go see the movie at like 10am on a Sunday so no one will see me looking awful when it's over.
