Being that I have lived in both NC and AZ I was pulling for both...but my home is here in NC so I'm so happy she won!!!

AZ's dress though...didn't look like it really fit her on her top half. Texas's dress looked like Texas/Miss USA 2008's dress from last year.

AR's dress...ok those two colors (red and hot pink) do not go together and it looked like a genie outfit.

Anyone else think that CA looked almost like she could be Gretchen's twin from the real housewives of orange county???

That dress was atrocious. On another note, did anyone see that her interests were "armadillo watching" and "playing the fiddle"? I have never been more proud to be an Arkansas native than the moment I read that.

Miss USA is really much trashier of a pageant than Miss America. I just feel the Miss America pageant has a more respectful tone.
That's because Miss America girls have to have some talent besides just looking like a hoochie!

If you took all the money used on plastic surgery *boobs* for the women on that stage last night, it could bail out a bank or two

I wonder how different the Miss USA pageant would be if it were only broadcast over the radio.

Inside Edition (on now) is covering the Miss California catastrophe.

I def. think that cost her the crown. "no offense to anyone out there!" uhhh yea. And according to her "we live in a country where people can choose same sex marriage or opposite marriage.." uhhh no we don't? It's illegal in 46 states

Supposedly Miss California was ahead in total points before she got that question.

She's an idiot for giving an opinion either way. It doesn't matter what her actual answer was (i.e. whether she was pro or anti gay marriage). If she can't effectively answer that type of question without making such a polarizing statement then she doesn't deserve to be Miss USA. You can't just say "no offense!" and pretend no one noticed that you just alienated a good chunk of the viewers.

Yeah, anytime something is prefaced with "no offense" prepare to be offended (or the other popular, "don't take this wrong, but" ).

As in, "No offense, but those pants make your butt look HUGE!"

Agreed. I was actually very surprised that she answered with an opinion because she didn't HAVE to.

And why say it like she did anyway, even if she wanted to work in her personal opinion??? She could have always said "My personal belief is that marriage is between a man and a woman, but I don't think the government should be legislating based on personal beliefs." Or something like that. Particularly to be from here (CA) and not have an answer for that question in your back pocket??? She's an idiot.

Exactly.

PH: Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?"

I, of course, was totally pulling for AZ. I was just thrilled that she made it beyond the first 15, but to make it to the final 5, well AZ hasn't done that in the years that I've religiously watched the pageants. LOL.

Her answer though was dumb, nothing to do with the question. But I told my mom, that that is how all the contestants (minus USA) answer the final question in the Miss Universe pageant, so maybe it would work for her.

I'm still bummed she didn't win. I liked NC though. I hated CA, so I'm bummed that she is 1st runner and AZ is 2nd runner. CA just seemed very fake and snobby to me.

saw the clip on perez hilton's site and he said the best answer she could have given was that it was a state issue and that each state should be left to decide.

Were the politcally inclined questions included this year to boost ratings and interest? (which if it was, it worked apparently... )

Seriously, the Miss USA pageant is what it is....a pageant. I hope going forward they stick with the "traditional" HRPL focus Judging by the attention this has caused, I doubt it though.

..and I didn't care for CA either. I agree that she did come across as too "something"..

Most all of the questions (I only missed one I think? ) were political - should we have universal health care, should we bail out companies etc.

If you are looking for more interviews, check out Perez Hilton's website.

I think she's just saving face when she says she wouldn't change what she said. And in all the interviews she says the same thing: "He asked me for an opinion so I gave it to him", and "I've received over 4000 Facebook friend requests"

Also, expect something disrespectful to be said when the opening is: "With all due respect..."
