Weird Question

Ive searched high and low and still nothing. i was wondering if you can join a frat of a 4 year college if you go to their sister school or (2 year school, Community college) ect. some examples of which are
Valencia and UCF
TCC and FSU
Santa Fe and UF
i plan on transferring to the 4 year school. and i know you can join as a junior but i feel like i wont want to deal with that when im a junior.

i went to a community college my first year and transferred my sophomore year and was fine. It depends on which school you transfer too though.

Assuming you are talking NIC fraternities(or those that can be grouped in that category) no, you cannot.

Well i googled Fsu frats and a news article came up and said that 4 frat brothers 2 from FSU 2 from TCC were arrested for hazing and it sparked my interest

This is something that is not commonly done, but I have known young men that have pledged at a university that were students at the local "neighboring" community college. Please do not think this is common and done everywhere. Unless rules have recently changed it is possible, but don't bank on it.

For what it is worth, the NIC allows each member organization to select membership as they wish. As such, some fraternities may allow "city-wide" chapters, some fraternities may allow chapters to take members from "local" community-colleges, and other fraternities may only allow members of a chapter to be from the specific campus.

It's been done before.

Several fraternities at Auburn ghost pledge people from the neighboring Community College.

It's just not done openly.

You just need to know the people to do it. You can't go through their rush.

I know it happens at fraternities from UC Santa Barbara and the nearby community college, but it's always guys they know from high school or things like that.

At least at FSU and Florida yes it is done but it's technically sketchy and not allowed. If you go to rush week events talk to the rush chair about it, he can tell you whether thats possible at their house or to go somewhere else.

Most organizations require you to be registered student of the school/university that they are recognized by. This will allow you to be on their organizationl roster, your grades to be retrieved/monitored, participation in intramural sports, and for you to be sanctioned should a situation arise.

Unless of course the group chooses to initiate you as a special circumstance, which is normally only done for fathers, advisors, or some other special case.

Is it possible? Yes. Likely? Not really.

The only time i've heard of or seen it is at my school. We're a commuter school, that gets a significant number of transfer students who go to community college first. And when it does happen we do it based on the assumption that you'll be transferring in a reasonable amount of time.
