There's also a matter of risk that exist when we talk about race or class or gender in real life. Some people are interested in classifying others and treating them differently based on that classification. Here, there are very few consequences.

No slight to you but I would like to believe that you think before you say anything regardless of the medium.
I don't think there is that much difference on how some feel whether in real life on on the boards.
There is always risk but if you are willing to take it depends on what reward you are looking for in the final outcome...agreed?

Maybe there shouldn't be, but for me there is. If we worked together, and you were really worked up about that cartoon, I'd point out what I thought it was referring to one time, and then, your emotional intensity would carry the day. It wouldn't be worth it to me to upset you more by continuing to talk about it and disagree.
I wouldn't pretend that I agreed, but I'd try to find common ground to validate you as a person (maybe by acknowledging one of the intentional monkey comparisons) vs. staying with the seemingly irrational to me political or topical point.
I think I'm a much more agreeable person in real life than I am here, but then, I'd almost have to be.

Then again, that would depend on what kind of associates we are right?
How well you knew me and so on.
And I am pretty much the same way...we could talk about it (in real time) make our points and move on and probably come to an amicable POV and continue...here is the kicker...what about beyond work?

It would be the same beyond work, except that my social universe is 75-85 percent based on work. And I think Holder's take is pretty accurate that most of us are pretty segregated in our purely social lives. Not deliberately or consciously, for most of us, but it works out that way.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I am shocked that we agree on that.
Many of the commentators were taken aback by his statement.
